About Our Boutique Inn

Our property isn’t old so we can’t brag of the historic events that took place at our bed and breakfast near Lake Michigan. What we can brag about is the spacious suites that offer you the luxury…and don’t forget the romance…that our home has to offer our guests.

The house was built in 1996 by Jay Yelton, a visionary in South Haven, who saw the charm of B&B lifestyle getaways. The tear down of a small ranch house that was the location of an area medical/dentist office became the beginning of this romantic B&B. Sadly, we have no ghosts in this house and no squeaks! Once inside the B&B, you will find thirteen fireplaces with one in each guest room, sitting areas you can cozy up in with a good book or hot beverage, and whispers of yesteryear in the stained glass doors and windows that have been harvested from “historic” homes. Old floor boards from the original house, and antiques placed throughout the entire house and guest rooms create a cozy environment for our guests’ enjoyment. As the current owners, we have made a few changes since our purchase. One is the outside of the house. We selected colors (with the help of the professional decorator) that would mirror the inside of the house so that everything was tied together. We like to think we are now in the company of the painted ladies club. It was a very difficult decision to make, but we did it and have gotten very positive feedback.

Another addition is the enhanced gardens in the backyard, which now includes a mesmerizing waterfall with Adirondack chairs on a sitting deck.  Our hard work is being noticed as we were voted “Glorious Gardens” in 2013 and opened our gardens to the public in the summer of 2014 for the annual SoHa Garden Walk. The sounds of the trickling water, the singing of the birds, and the soft fragrances of flowers can only be accredited to Mother Nature. The gardens are filled with color all season and contribute to the floral arrangements in our dining room and often in the guest rooms.

Carol Ann & Jerry Hall

We purchased this magnificent luxury inn in April of 2007 and are the fourth owners in its 22 year history but brag, once again, that we are the first full-time, on-property owners since the house first opened its door to travelers. I left the corporate life after 23-plus years of traveling 80% of the time and decided it was time to do that “dream job” I had always claimed I wanted to do…so we did! My husband Jerry helps with all the daily chores and is the main  breakfast  chef . He also has a robust “honey-do” list and keeps everything in tip-top shape.

We have found that living out “my dream” has become a passion for both of us. The unexpected reward we have discovered was not the business aspect of this endeavor but the wonderful people, and now friends, we are meeting. No one could have ever explained that the most valuable part of purchasing the inn and “living our dream” would add so much to our personal growth as a result of the people we meet. Come and stay with us during your Lake Michigan travel. We will pamper you, make you laugh, and get you to exhale from your daily routines. We make your bed, we make your breakfast, and we make your memories!
